Tell us about yourself in under 100 words:

I’ve made it my life’s work to be completely aligned with radical self-love. It’s what I teach and what I hope to inspire in others everyday. It hasn’t always come easily to me; after dealing with a debilitating case of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, it was a daily journey for me to understand what was truly beautiful about me not matter what I was experiencing with my body. Today, I’ve taken that story and channeled it to help others through my talk show and my online community.

What is something about you that most people don’t know?

I took voice lessons for 12 years and always had a dream of being the character Maureen in the musical “Rent.” I actually still have that dream.

Close your eyes and picture “beautiful”. What comes to mind?

Being in the ocean scuba-diving with tropical fish.

You had an allergic reaction to something before the shoot that caused a bit of a rash on your face (although we honestly couldn’t tell!). Did you ever consider canceling? If yes, what made you decide to do it?

I absolutely considered canceling. I went back and forth about it for an entire day. I decided to do it because I hear something inside of me say, “You’re not the only one who’s been through this.” Everything I do is in the hopes of helping at least one person who may be experiencing the same frustration, sadness or challenge in their own life. So I had to do it for them; it really wasn’t about me.

What have been the most instrumental elements in your personal journey to living from a place of confidence?

For starters, I think we can only truly be confident in what’s beautiful about us, when we learn to embrace and explore the darker parts of ourselves. I think the thing that has given me the most confidence is the work I do everyday to truly know who I am.

What advice would you give a girl who hates her body or is struggling with her weight?

First off, you’re not alone. Whether it was because of my psoriasis or the fact that I’m the curviest woman in my family, I’ve always struggled with embracing what is beautiful about me. My advice would be to surround yourself with people who see the beauty in you and who are as healthy as you want to be. We have a tendency to build friendships based on our weaknesses. I would advise you to create a community based on your strengths.

What is the most amazing thing your body has done for you?

My body has been my greatest teacher. Every time I need to slow down, stop, or listen, my body lets me know. Sometimes the message isn’t always the easiest to hear but it’s always clear. My body has taught me how to connect to my intuition more and it’s also shown me how incredibly strong I can be.

If you could give one message to the women of the world what would it be?

My favorite quote is: love is possible in every moment. If you’re feeling sad, lost, or unloved know that true love is inside you, always accessible whenever you need it.
