Describe yourself in under 100 words.
Bright-eyed, motivated twenty-one year old, ready to explore, absorb and be challenged by the world. Observant and adventurous, I’m excited to see what the future crafts out to be. Happy yet serious, relaxed yet a planner. I over think and overcompensate with care whenever placed in a situation out of my control. Grateful everyday.
Beauty can be defined in so many ways. What is your definition of ‘beautiful’?
When someone goes about doing something they love, or speaks about something they’re passionate about – they light up and everyone can tell. To me, that is when a person is the most beautiful.
In a life where I feel uncertain about stepping out of my apartment without looking in the mirror, to be part of a movement that is so confident in its mission feels empowering.
When do you feel most beautiful?
I feel most beautiful when I’m laughing, or right after a work-out.
When (if ever) do you not feel beautiful?
When I catch myself speaking or acting without good intentions.
On average how much do you spend each month on cosmetic items such as make-up, hair cuts/colouring, waxing, clothing, nails, tanning, creams etc.
Have you ever struggled with confidence, body image or insecurities in your life? If yes, please share your story. If you have any advice for people going through the same thing please feel free to share your thoughts here.
Ironically, I’ve become more conscious of situations where I lack confidence and feel insecure as I’ve become older. As a competitive swimmer during my teenage years, I spent a lot of time being in the raw – skin tight swim suits that revealed every bump, no make-up to dress myself with/hide behind during training, and feeling really comfortable with my hair being wet and disheveled looking In public. Whenever I’m uncertain, I try to channel that person I was and remember to smile.
Have you ever had cosmetic surgery or treatments? Please share your thoughts on this.
I haven’t had cosmetic surgery or treatments and am pretty ambivalent on the issue. On one hand, I feel like people are subject to their own decisions and should be supported in decisions that empower them. On the other hand, I hope that people who go through with the procedure have been reminded of how beautiful they are without it.
